A New Year's Resolution

Reflecting on the past year, I realized that I have learned a lot. But the biggest change I've made is this: learning to accept the the things I cannot change, and changing the things I can. This statement is easier said than done! I have kind of learned how to apply this statement to different situations, but I've found that it is hardest to apply to people.
Life has been a little rocky this year! I've lost friends, and gained new ones, all the while wondering if it's all worth it. This is what I found to be the hardest bit of information I learned: I can not change people. I can change my perspective on them, but only they can change themselves. The biggest part of all that is realizing that everyone is an individual. No one is perfect. No one can meet all of the requirements you have set in your mind. But that's what's so wonderful about all of it! Each one of us is unique, and has something different to contribute to the world! Just because I notice those differences, it doesn't mean I have the right to judge. So. My new year resolution is this: Learn to accept people for who they are. Judge less. Smile more, and celebrate our differences :)
